Good morning.

There was a country music show on TV last night, ACM Presents Superstar Duets. It was recorded in the ballpark where the Texas Rangers play. I tried watching it but I had to turn it off, the quality of the sound was awful. I've heard bootleg recordings that sounded better, CBS should be embarrassed for broadcasting a music show with such pitiful sound.

G'day All.

A question for those on the American side of the ditch. Did the recent quarrantine troubles of your erstwhile countryman Johnny Depp get any press over there in the "Land of the Free" (or if not free, at least reasonably cheap)?

I don't remember seeing anything about Depp on the TV news or in the newspaper. I saw an article online but I didn't read it, as a rule I don't give 2 monkey craps about celebrities and their private lives.

It was hard to miss over here in the "land of deadly creatures".

Every news bulletin has had all the messy details of his heinous dog smuggling escapade. Trouble is, even with all the hullabaloo and posturing by politicians, his celebrity status will ensure he merely gets a tap on the wrist with a damp lettuce leaf. Woe betide any normal punter who tried to smuggle dogs into Oz they would be singing the "Folsom Prison Blues" for sure.

Hi de ho Saturday Stay at homers!

So,Johnny Depp got caught breaking rules. When did he become a quarterback?

There is always a sliding rule for the rich and famous based on how they receive punishment.

Hey BP,

At least they made him fly the dogs home - although he waited until the last minute.

Strictly speaking the dogs should have been seized and euthanased but some common sense prevailed :)

Um, seems like there was a third choice:
1. Send 'em home
2. Send 'em to doggie heaven
3. Put 'em in quarantine for 10 days!

Actually, the quarantine period is 180 days.

The bigger issue is the falsified customs declarations. That is a criminal offence, but the media have got all excited because they are puppies and he is a celebrity.

I agree with the decision to allow the dogs to be returned home - assuming the US authorities allow them back into the US - there might be a paperwork issue or two.
