greetings! i hope most of you had good luck on saturday and will have good luck next week. it certainly seems odd that tickets would be gone before you have ten people go through a ticket line, but here is some more information to tick you all off. last year, clear channel entertainment purchased sfx. sfx had owned the most venues in the country and most of the venues that jimmy plays each year. clear channel is also the country's largest radio broadcast owner so that means that in every city where a show is booked, the clear channel stations in that market--all of them--get to purchase advance tickets FOR THEIR CLIENTS.

now, here's a thought for the few tickets that remain after all of that. this year for his world tour, carlos santana issued a password to anyone that was a registered member of his website. there was an advance sale on-line the day before tickets went on sale to the public and the only way to access them was with the password that came from santana's management. tom petty did something similar the other year also.

just curious what you guys think.

Excellent suggestion and this has been discussed before.

But, the answer lies in the hands of the Buffett organization (although somehow the Peach Corps does it indirectly for the Brothers). And I think their answer would be :"who gets a password?" Jimmy doesn't have a fan club, and while we are all insane parrot heads, Buffett is no longer a "cult" band as his appeal now reaches everywhere. Now, a Buffett News password is a different story, but I don't think Ticketmaster cares about us enough to work out a deal.

Other bands, like the Grateful Dead or Phish, did a mail order for fans in addition to TM and other ticket organizations. But it's an expensive and time consuming project and really only makes sense for bands that tour year round, not sporadically as Bubba tends to do.

So, it's a ticket war for us...and victory on Saturday's battlefield will make the spoils that much sweeter this summer!

Ink...Jimmy most definately has a huge and well organized Fan Club. There are active chapters all over the U.S. and elsewhere.

But, it's not sponsored by the Buffett organization, so I don't know if Tickemaster would recognize it's validity for an internet presale (and I believe that is what this anon. poster was asking about...a presale based on an official performer fan club).

I'm well aware of the many PHCs, but I'm not sure TM is. I'm pretty sure that the Brothers arranged for the Peach Corps. pre-sale, but maybe an interested party (I'm not in a chapter of a PHC, so it doesn't apply to me) should try contacting TM or the Buffett organization if you think this kind of fan club would work.

Just trying to help, sorry if I offended any PHIP members, I honestly didn't know y'all considered yourself a "fan club."

As a member of the Bluegrass Parrot Head Club, I know that any member of a registered PHC that is in good standing with the club is eligible for tickets to the shows. To be in good standing with the the national chapter, you must have paid your annual dues and participated in 4 charity events with the club (1 each quarter). As far as I know, TM doesn't have anything to do with this process. They don't seem to care who gets tickets and who doesn't!!

That's what I thought, I was just trying to address the anon. poster's question about a "fan club" password...I think they have a different kind of concept in mind, and I was just trying to express why I thought it wouldn't work.

Thanks for the info KYflamingo.

Not offended at all, Ink. Just thought that you or some others were perhaps unaware of the Parrothead Clubs out there.

I got tickets last year for both Van Morrison & Bob DYlan through INTERNET early sales but both of these was done by Ticketmaster and SFX. The Dylan Password was given at his web site but the Van Morrison was sent out by SFX. This is a great idea however for a Buffett Show it would be the same thing on the day the INTERNET sale started as it is now, within 5 minutes all of these tickets would be gone too.
