Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Bear with me here because I'm about to ramble a bit.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have been the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for about 17 or 18 years. They started as a minor league affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, then the Texas Rangers and this year the Chicago Cubs. I did a little research on the internet, for 2 years in the early 1990s the minor league team here was the Myrtle Beach Hurricanes and they were an affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. In their June 6th game, the Pelicans wore throwback Hurricanes jerseys. That was the second day of the Carolina Country Music Fest so I wasn't at the game. There are 6 jerseys up for auction online, which leads me to believe they auctioned the jerseys at the game and nobody bid on those 6. The auction ends at 5:00pm next Wednesday. I'm debating whether or not I should bid on one of them. There's nothing on the auction page indicating if the proceeds are going to charity. The 2 jerseys I won in the other auctions were both for charity.

With some of the other auctions they're having, I could end up with 5 or 6 jerseys, maybe more, this year. I have to get one of the ugly Christmas sweater jerseys next month and I want one of the "LET'S PLAY TWO" jerseys they're wearing in double headers as a tribute to Ernie Banks. They're having a "Pink In The Park" day for breast cancer in August and I want one of them. I think there's one other special jersey they're wearing but I'm not sure if they're auctioning them. The website says the players will wear them in a game but it doesn't mention an auction.

It's funny, when I lived in NY we had 2 baseball teams ( I don't count the Dodgers and Giants because I was only 5 years old when they moved to Los Angeles and San Francisco), 2 basketball teams, 2 football teams and 3 hockey teams. I had no memorabilia, no jerseys, no t-shirts, not even a cap. I've lived here 2 1/2 years and I already have a Pelicans t-shirt, a cap and 2 jerseys.
