The local minor league team here, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, has a relief pitcher who's from Canada. They put him on the inactive list for 2 weeks earlier this month so he could pitch for Canada in the Pan American Games. The first game he pitched after coming back to the Pelicans, he was introduced as "Gold Medal winner Jasvir Rakkar."

The Pelicans had a Military Appreciation Night a few weeks ago. The players wore special jerseys in the game and they were auctioned off to raise money for the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America. I won Rakkar's jersey in the auction.
