out front of the house with a bowl of candy, a cigar, shot glasses and a bottle of something.

Hey John! Our trick or treat in Lancaster County is Fri night. Since we moved here 2 years ago we haven't gotten any kids so we are heading to the Liederkranz to be door bouncers Friday night. How much you want to bet this year a herd of kids come down the street and since we won't be home....well...I don't want to think about what might happen

In my mind I read this as:

"Tomorrow night I'll be sitting out front of the house with a bowl of candy, a cigar, shotgun and a bottle of something."

I thought he really doesn't like Halloween, does he?



Unfortunately, due to their diet of US TV, the practice is becoming popular over here.

I say "unfortunately" because it seems to come with a sense of entitlement, mostly from the helicopter parents who seem to encourage their feral offspring to be rude and demanding. I must be getting crotchety 'coz I do not have the patience for rude, demanding children, and even less for rude, 'entitled' parents.

Mine? No.

They are wild and free - just one of many, many pairs that visit us for a free feed.

Since spring has just sprung, I am a little loath to feed them - there is so much food about. However, these guys politely tapped on the kitchen window to ask for a snack. (yeah, I am a bit of a softy).
