Good morning. Thank you to all who served, and are serving.

Two years ago I went back to NY for my law school class reunion. I decided to drive instead of flying but I didn't want to drive 700 miles in one day so I stopped in Fredericksburg, VA on the way up. As luck would have it, there was a Hooters within walking distance of the hotel. :lol: After I checked in, I went to Hooters for dinner. They do a lot of stuff for the military, including free meals on Veterans Day. The day I was there was Veterans Day. When I got my check, they had comped my meal. I called my waitress over and told her I wasn't a vet so I shouldn't get a free meal. She thanked me for being honest, told me I was her first customer all day who wasn't a vet and said I could have the free meal anyway. I added the price I would have paid to her tip.

I am not sure of the traditions in the US, however, here in Oz our "Returned Serviceman's League" (RSL) clubs have a ceremony each evening.

At 6.00 PM the lights are dimmed and everyone stands and faces west for a minute silence.

Then this is read (The Ode).
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

LEST WE FORGET

Yet despite this, looking at the world and governments everywhere, I think we may have just forgotten exactly what their sacrifice gave us and why we should be protecting their legacy.

Afternoon BNers

Thank you to those that served, friends and family of those that served and those that stayed home and still helped the war effort.

I posted this on FB:
My Daddy was not a veteran. He had an injury when he was young that kept him from serving. But while the others were overseas to keep us free, he was home keeping the local oil/gasoline plant running so there would be products to keep us on the roads. Thank you Daddy.

good evening everyone. Some how the day got away from me even though it is a holiday for us government workers.

Thanks to all our VETS.

Without you we would not have had the privilege to do what we had the chance to do on Tuesday !

I fished and then helped do bulb check with down town light displays. We move them tomorrow. Anne shopped a craft show and bought alpaca gloves as gifts for parrotheads we see next week.
