Hi everyone! Wanted to let you all know that we rescued 2 Newfoundland dogs this past Saturday from a deplorable situation and to also ask for a little doggie advice. We gave this pair new names that sound similar to their old ones to celebrate their new start! 4 yr old male Lincoln is now Beacon and itty bitty Harley is Charley girl! She is 3. They had been housed in a barn at a home where no one lived and were supposedly fed 7 c of food a day. He should weigh 130-150 lbs and is 75 lbs. Charley is a small female and weighs 73 lbs. She's not in as dire straits as Beacon. After 2 vet visits and 1000.00 that we had to scrape together, they are on their way to being healthy again! They crave touch and are sweet souls!
Now for my question, we have had newfies before but never shaved them ever. These guys have been shaved and Charley girl has happy tail and the tip of her tail bleeds easily cause she is a happy girl and whacks it on the corners of the door way. My house looks like a murder scene and I'm constantly finding blood splatter everywhere! Curtains, walls, cabinets, doors, you name it! Anyone have a successful solution for this condition? Vet said oh yeah, she has happy tail! Try not to let her hit it. Yeeeeah, not so easy! Tried to bandage it, but no luck with bandage tape holding. There is a "sleeve" type deal online but after spending big bucks at vet, would like to avoid another purchase at the moment. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Edit: just read about using a hair roller to create a cage of sorts, gonna try that!

The Pelicans have a short 4 game home stand starting tonight. It's been a beautiful day so far but the forecast for tonight is 100% chance of rain. I have a ticket for tomorrow's game, Cinco de Mayo. If tonight's game gets rained out I'll probably get a double header tomorrow. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif] Too bad none of the 20 or so beers they sell at the ballpark are Mexican beers.

And just for a little bit of fun....to celebrate both the 40th anniversary of the release of "Star Wars" and the 50th anniversary of the release of the Beatles' magnum opus "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (man, where does the time go?), I leave you with this:

Good Evening from South-Central PA!

Its a really cool spring evening -- nice breeze. Enough that we need long pants but no sweatshirts and have all the windows open. I know, I know, my allergies/asthma are not happy but I'VE been so unhappy for the past month it's time to enjoy the breeze. (Check back later to see if I'm breathing).

Lots of last minute wedding details. Had a few curve balls today. Son's car crapped out as he pulled into his working parking lot (actually, it's our car that he uses) and he heads to National Guard Drill tomorrow (has off Sat & Sun for his sister's wedding). So he needs to borrow one of our remaining 2 cars -- both of which are completely scheduled for wedding errands.....grrrrrrrr. In the end it worked out but it took several hours.

Then, the venue called and were curious why we got a tent for next to the main building but didn't get sides (since there is rain expected on Saturday (of course) and if we wanted sides why didn't we want lights for the tent since it would probably be pretty dark under there after 8pm. Turns out we DID order tents sides AND lights....good thing they decided to put up the tent today to avoid soggy muddy ground in the event of rain and caught this little error now and not on Saturday.......did I say a few curve balls .

There's a whole other story about Kevin's suit pants....too long, then too short...yep. We are the Ringers !
