Aloha All!
Yes, it is Fourth of July weekend already! Hope the weather stays as nice as it has been the past few days. Heading down to Cape May and AC for the end of the Mike 60th Birthday Festival. We will be having a huge lunch at the raw bar in the Lobster House, then driving back up to AC to hang on the beach at Landshark Landing. Tomorrow rent bikes to ride on boardwalk, another lunch at Smitty's Clam Bar in Somers Point, then home. Hopefully in time to catch some live music at one of our local Tiki bars. Saturday it's Southside Johnny at the Stone Pony. Boy, all this relaxin' is exhausting!!
have an awesome day, evvybody!

I saw Southside Johnny at BB King's a few years ago. They started one song over because Southside forgot the lyrics. They stopped another song because the bass player was standing there with a "deer in the headlights" look on his face. He didn't know the song.

Last time I saw him (two years ago) he was very funny, talking to the audience. Seemed to be having a great time.LIPH wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 10:53 amI saw Southside Johnny at BB King's a few years ago. They started one song over because Southside forgot the lyrics. I've seen him a few times. Great when on. One year we saw him at UCONN , the next morning on the way home , we see him changing his flat tire. So much for a tour bus or a driver.sistergoldenhair wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 11:01 amLast time I saw him (two years ago) he was very funny, talking to the audience. Re: Last THURS of June @ the MSC
Since we're talking about a really good band that didn't have the kind of success they deserved, in my opinion, I'll bring up a band that has had a lot more success than they deserve- the 2 clowns from Florida Georgia Line. I just heard their latest song on the radio, it's a duet with The Backstreet Boys.

Okay I will go into full on fogey mode to say that I prefer George Strait, Alan Jackson, Patsy Cline, Jerry Jeff Walker, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings (and all the other Outlaws and Highwaymen) and Loretta Lynn, Roseann Cash, EmmyLou Harris, Willie Nelson, Hank Jr,... and more, to the newfangled stuff on the radio now.LIPH wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 12:16 pm Since we're talking about a really good band that didn't have the kind of success they deserved, in my opinion, I'll bring up a band that has had a lot more success than they deserve- the 2 clowns from Florida Georgia Line. Not going deep with this topic, but this is a TOTAL apples & oranges comparison. The "Bro-Country" does not come from the same planet as the "Classic Country" you mentioned Sista....sistergoldenhair wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 12:30 pmOkay I will go into full on fogey mode to say that I prefer George Strait, Alan Jackson, Patsy Cline, Jerry Jeff Walker, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings (and all the other Outlaws and Highwaymen) and Loretta Lynn, Roseann Cash, EmmyLou Harris, Willie Nelson, Hank Jr,... and more, to the newfangled stuff on the radio now.LIPH wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 12:16 pm Since we're talking about a really good band that didn't have the kind of success they deserved, in my opinion, I'll bring up a band that has had a lot more success than they deserve- the 2 clowns from Florida Georgia Line. Doc, you're right about the whole "Bro-Country" thing. It's Justin Bieber with a cowboy hat.

A band similar to SSJ , and great live is John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band . They are big or were big on the East Coast mainly CT , RI and MA area. Had his fame with The Eddie and the Cruiser's movie. Another one , and look them up is the Stompers , I use to see them all the time on The Cape. And i'll give you NRBQ ...Big Al Anderson lived in my hometown , use to see him at a place called East Side Tavern throwing back some beers with the locals. Nice guy. But , NRBQ had a few songs in some movies , Riding in my car was there big hit.

Would loved to have seen JC & Beaver Brown Band. Played Tough All Over & Eddie & The Cruisers soundtrack non-stop back in the day. Of course as a MAJOR Springsteen/E Street fan considered them to be a "lite" version of those guys....with immense energy. And of course I always am a fan of Good Sax!!TommyBahama wrote: ↑June 29, 2017 1:14 pm A band similar to SSJ , and great live is John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band .
