Morning all!!! Not sure if I will participate in the viewing. Working , and I'm blocked out by trees at that hour. Right now would of been perfect , I could look right out the window.

Good morning.

Anybody have special plans for the eclipse today? The county where I live is supposed to get over 90% coverage but Georgetown County, just to the south, is in the path of totality. Brookgreen Gardens, a big sculpture garden in Murrells Inlet, is in Georgetown County. It's closed for general admission today but they're having a Solar Eclipse Festival. It's a ticketed event that sold out a couple of weeks ago. They were charging $20 but it's free for members and I have an annual membership. I'm bringing my camera with me but I don't have a solar filter for the lens so I won't be taking any pictures of the partial eclipse. From what I've read, once the moon fully covers the sun you can safely look at it and take pictures so that's the only time I'll be snapping away. But since the total eclipse only lasts for about 2 minutes, I want to make sure I get a good look at it with the naked eye, not just through the camera lens. I don't know how the pictures will come out since they'll be in total darkness, but I'll at least try to get some shots.

They're supposed to be selling food, soft drinks, beer and wine. I hope they have Blue Moon. In case they don't, I'm packing a lunch and bringing one Blue Moon with me.

Aloha! Very exciting day! Lin, what is Thursday 31?? You are being very cryptic lately!

Heading into school to start setting up my classroom, then home to start cooking the bumper crop of tomatoes. Tonight's dinner -- pasta with raw diced tomatoes in garlic and oil, and some fresh mozzarella to mix in. Sauteed long hot Italian peppers and sausage on the side. Yum.

Have a nice day!

Morning y'all. Enjoying coffee at my tiki bar & watching the pup frolic in the yard.
Meeting a few friends for an eclipse viewing at a brewery. Weather guessers say it will be mostly cloudy so not sure how much viewing we will get but there will be plenty of beer. :pirate:

I live 12 miles north of Brookgreen Gardens, it took 45 minutes to get here. It was overcast on the ride here, it just started raining. Total eclipse isn't until after 2:30.

Of the 4 times I've been down there never been to Brookgreen. Need to really try & do it this time.
Best of luck on eclipse viewing Larry! Can't believe you didn't take a "dark" beer with you

Morning BNers

For some reason, I didn't plan for the eclipse...guess I thought I had more time to get glasses.
Soooooo, I will be on my driveway with a paper plate with a tiny hole in it.

Partial eclipse starts here at 1:18, total is at 2:47 and will last a little over 2 minutes, then the eclipse ends at 4:09. I'm not looking forward to the drive home. According to the traffic app on my phone there's a 1 hour 20 minute delay on Hwy 17. Guess which highway I have to take to get home?

It turned dark and cool here but I attribute that to the thunderstorm and rain. The eclipse was a non event here.
