Robert Earl Keen was really good but the opening act was a waste of time. It was a duo called Doyle & Debbie and they were supposed to be a comedy singing act but they were just bad. Some of the lines from their songs: when you're screwing other women, think of me; fat women in trailers, their husbands are in jail; I peed your name in the snowbanks of life. Just awful
REK did something I had never seen him do before. During the course of the show, he introduced each member of the band as if they were someone else and they did one of that person's songs. The drummer was Levon Helm and he did The Weight by The Band. The bass player was Bob Dylan, he did Like A Rolling Stone. The pedal steel player was James Taylor and he did Shower The People with 3 other members of the band wearing bathrobes as his backup singers, Shower Of Power. The mandolin player was Tom Petty, he did American Girl. The guitarist was Neil Young doing Heart Of Gold. The fiddle player was Dwight Yoakam and he did a song I didn't know, I'm not familiar with Dwight Yoakam's music. It was different. I would rather hear something like that than the lame opening act.

Ugh, that opener does sound terrible.

Storm Large? When I used to live in NY the weatherman on the local NBC affiliate was Dr. Frank Field. His son was the weatherman on the local ABC affiliate, Storm Field.

I got my first Christmas card in today's mail. I haven't even checked to see if I have any left from last year.

I used to love to send and receive them, but I'm kinda over them. Christmas just hasn't been as special since dealing with my parents.

I spent 1.5 hours on hold today waiting to talk with someone at the Social Security Administration and then they weren't able to help me.
I figured "what the hell, my day is ruined anyway" so then I called Comcast to try and get some help from them on an email/voicemail problem... another hour down the drain!
Being a total masochist, I then called Sirius/XM but had better luck with them and got the next 6 months of service for my wife's car for $33.12 instead of the $106.45 they billed me.
