Good Morning my BN friends.

Today is National Book Lovers Day. I always have a book next to the bed and in the car. What are you reading?

Did you know? Bibliophile – a person who has a great appreciation for or collects books.

Step back in time
The very first books used parchment or vellum (calf skin) for the book pages.
The book covers were made of wood and often covered with leather.
The books were fitted with clasps or straps.
Public libraries appeared in the Middle Ages.
Public libraries often chained the books to a shelf or a desk to prevent theft.

Good morning Linda. Oil money in my town allowed a man to amass a fortune in rare books kept in a fireproof room. For fifty years he had one of the three existing copies of the Guttenberg bible. My mother got to see it when she moved here.

Morning Linda, Bill & BN.

I used to read a lot when I worked night shift but not so much anymore.
Enjoying my coffee at the tiki & watching the hummingbirds.
I was pretty lazy yesterday but managed to get the house cleaned & laundry done so today I think I'll reward myself & go to the pool

Good morning! Just finished a novel about Key West. I'm drinking coffee and heading to my annual eye exam in a little bit, then will spend a couple of hours brushing my hairy beasts! They are getting baths this weekend...yay. Have a great day.

Aloha! I LOVE to read, but have not had much time so far this summer. However, winter is coming. Plenty of time then. :(
Day trip to Philly today for a tippler's tour of historic watering holes, in search of the missing Ben Franklin! Should be fun.

Everybody have a nice day!!

Morning, BN. Recovering from four hours of New Orleans bands at Central Park. Four hours on my feet, too.

Currently reading a detailed Jane Austin biography. It's going to take a while to finish it. I've been perusing a food substitution book. Cooking and don't have something on hand? The book tells you what else you can use.

Soooo...went to eye appointment, was 10 min early, my appt time was 10:10. Was scheduled with a different doc than my regular one. Sat in the waiting room for a freaking HOUR! So I decided to leave and reschedule for next week on yet another day off...and when I rescheduled I was informed that my regular doctor was completely unavailable for the month of August and oh, by the way she's retiring in Sept...well thanks for letting me know....😒😒😒 So my morning was wasted and now I get to do it all over again next Thursday. Next time I'm scheduled for 8:10 am, so hopefully they won't be running an hour behind that early in the day. What kills me is...if you are 15 min late they can reschedule you but after an hour, not even an explanation until I was ready to walk out.

What kills me more than that is, if YOU are more than 15 min late, you get skipped & have to pay the copay for the appt (at least w our Dr) but we get do not get a free visit, etc if they are late...

I still have some OC bucks left on my World Beer Tour card at Old Chicago and they have to be redeemed by the end of the month. I think I'll go have lunch and a frosty beverage or 2. I need 4 more items - any combination of beer, food or cocktails - to get a free Old Chicago Summer Camp t-shirt.

I totally feel your pain! I am usually early for scheduled appointments, and understanding with a short wait time, but seriously I waited for an HOUR! Next to an elderly lady who had waited almost as long as I had....the entire waiting room was full...it was ridiculous! 😒

The Pelicans just announced they're having an Augtoberfest promotion at next Friday's game. They did the same thing last year but it was kind of a ripoff, the only beers they had were the ones they usually sell at the games. This year they're going to have 30 craft beers and ciders, most of which they don't normally sell. I think I'm going to buy a ticket, sampling some good craft beer might take my mind off the $h!tty baseball they've been playing this year.

BTW, Old Chicago had Pabst American Pale Ale. I didn't know they made a pale ale, I thought all they made was good old PBR, the poor man's Budweiser. I had one, it was much better than I thought it would be.
