Black FRIDAY@ the MSC
Good morning gang. We ring the Salvation Army bell this morning, then drive to shop and eat. Tonight, I collect donations at our holiday lights.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good morning Bill, and anyone else who might be around.
I have an appointment to donate platelets at the Red Cross at 10:30, I think I may have made a mistake making my appointment for this morning. I have to drive by 2 malls to get there and one of them is a Tanger Outlet Mall. On Black Friday.

Re: Black FRIDAY@ the MSC
Good morning, Gentlemen.
I have a Thanksgiving “feel good” story I’d like to share-
(I already told you about it, Larry, but to anyone else that feels like reading),
Wednesday evening (night before Thanksgiving), I was in a very crowded supermarket picking up a few things. I was wearing my U.S.S. Asheville jacket with several military patches on it (U.S.S. Asheville was the Patrol Gunboat I was on in Vietnam in 1971).
As I was walking up one of the aisles of the store, I heard a voice behind me say “Excuse me, Sir.” I turned to look to see who it was- it was a young man in his early/mid 30’s in a wheelchair. He stuck his hand out to me to shake my hand and said “I want to thank you for your service.”
That floored me. I thanked him back and, not wanting to make any inferences about his disability, asked if he was a veteran. He said no, but his father served in Vietnam and his sister is still on active duty with the U.S. Army. He offered to pay for my groceries, but I wouldn’t let him.
Yeah- it made me feel pretty darn good. So did the timing of the encounter.

Good morning Bill, Larry, and Garry!
That lovely story gave me chills and tears, Garry.
Not a lot going on here. Had a plan, but not really feeling it this morning. There will be NO shopping today, unless it's a stop at the grocery store.

No shopping here, either.
We're gonna head to the brewery this afternoon for a little time out. Was going to go here, but my back is not cooperating.

They had a hard time hitting a vein after they stuck the needle in my arm, that's gonna leave a mark.
No traffic at all by the 2 malls on the way there. When I was coming home there wasn't any traffic by the outlet mall but when I got back to Hwy 17 and drove by the other mall, traffic was backed up in both directions. My car will not be moving for the rest of the day.

It seems like it could be problematic... The whole notion of getting blood from a lawyer raises lots of questions.LIPH wrote: They had a hard time hitting a vein after they stuck the needle in my arm, that's gonna leave a mark.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....

Evening, peeps. No Black Friday shopping here. I don't even like regular shopping.
Jammies and leftovers with the keet. And Mr. Lime made a really good turkey noodle soup that he took some to various folks around town.
We'll start putting up some lights and outdoor decorations this weekend.

Re: Black FRIDAY@ the MSC
We havent done the real Black Friday shopping since the kids were little. Now most of gifts are bought online or are gift cards we can grab anytime.
We don’t decorate until the 1st of December. I think thanksgiving gets the short end of the holiday celebration stick.

What's the deal with putting up the tree about Halloween. I just don't understand.

Re: Black FRIDAY@ the MSC
Agreed. I finally watched all of the movies just a few years ago. Some were better than others, but so glad I finally did.
