Good Morning BN!

It's National Cookie Day !!! What's your favorite cookie?

We can thank the Dutch for more than windmills and tulips. The English word “cookie” is derived from the Dutch word “koekie” meaning little cake.
There have been cookie-like hard wafers in existence for as long as baking has been documented. This is because they traveled well, however, they were usually not sweet enough to be considered cookies by modern day standards.
The origin of the cookie appears to begin in Persia in the 7th century, soon after the use of sugar became common in the region. They were then spread to Europe through the Muslim conquest of Spain. Cookies were common at all levels of society throughout Europe by the 14th century, from the royal cuisine to the street vendors.
Cookies arrived in America in the 17th century. Macaroons andgingerbread cookies were among the popular early American cookies.
In most English-speaking countries outside of North America, the most common word for cookie is “biscuit.” In some regions, both terms, cookies and biscuits are used.
Cookies are classified into different categories, with the most common ones being:
Bar cookies – Drop cookies – Filled cookies
Molded cookies – No bake cookies
Pressed cookies – Refrigerator cookies
Rolled cookies – Sandwich cookies

I don't have a big sweet tooth, but I love soft good ole chocolate chip. Sometimes with peanut butter. :)

COLD out there today. No snow, tho.

Seeing Ina Garten from the Food Network (She's the 'Barefoot Contessa'), and I'm excited. Gonna be a late night, tho.

Have a good Tuesday!!!

Good late morning. It would be hard to choose between chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. Why would anyone ruin a wonderful treat like cookies with peanut butter? [smilie=puking.gif]

Had an early doc appt today, back home for a quick straighten up and swept and mopped as we have 2 showings back to back starting at 2:00. Wish me luck trapped in the car with the 2 big dogs for at least 2.5 hours.
In the process of making my Christmas cookie baking list and every year I try to cut it down and every year I seem to fail. 😂
Waiting to hear the press conference re: the retirement of our coach Urban Meyer. Not surprised, his health has not been good.
Have a great cookie day everyone.

Pepperidge Farm’s Soft Baked White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies.
Leave me on a deserted island with a lifetime supply of those, and I’ll die a happy man.

Of course, these days, for me, a lifetime supply would only be two or three bags. :o

Ahoy! I mailed the raffle after a good workout. A former student visited with me at the Y. She's working at a ski resort after working seasonal jobs in Nags Head, including surfing instructor. She leads a life we dream of at age 19.

I had to stop for gas this afternoon, it was $1.90/gallon. Last month when I went to Charleston for the Bob Dylan concert I filled up before I left and it was about $2.30-2.35/gallon.

We’re excited ours is “down” to $2.65. But we’ve got one of if not the highest gas tax in the country. Grrrrrr
