Jimmy’s Boats

Over the past 30 years Jimmy has enjoyed spending his free time sailing and saltwater fly fishing. Below are some of the boats that Jimmy has owned or currently owns.(pictured: Jimmy Buffett aboard the Margaritavich)
Euphoria” – a 33′ Cheoy Lee Ketch that Jimmy bought in 1976. He spent his free time sailing the Caribbean with Jane.
Euphoria II” – a 48′ Cheoy Lee Clipper Ketch that Jimmy bought in 1977. Jimmy wrote some of his popular songs including “Cheeseburger in Paradise” while sailing on this yacht. Learn more at Euphoria2.com
Savannah Jane” – a 26′ Alerion sloop originally designed by Nathanael Herreshoff. Jimmy’s purchased the boat in 1979 and it had the lettering “A6” on the sail. The boat was used by Lambert Davis for the illustratation in the book “The Jolly Mon”. Learn more about the Alerion at Rumerys Boatyard
Continental Drifter” – a 62′ Nordhavn that Jimmy purchased in 1997. Jimmy no longer owns this boat, it is now owned by the Bonvie’s
Continental Drifter II” – a 90′ Cheoy Lee Explorer (it is rumored that Jimmy sold this boat when he purchased the Continental Drifter III).
Continental Drifter III” – 124′ Defiant built by Delta Marine USA in 2003. For specs and interior pictures visit Delta Marine
Last Mango” – in 2003 Rybovich sold the first of it’s Margaritavich line, a 42′ Express Walkabouts, to Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy worked with Rybovich on designing the boat. Learn more about the Margaritavich at Power and Motor Yacht
Chill” – in 2005 Jimmy purchased a 42′ Hinckley DS42 (Hull #2). The sailboat can be seen on the “Live from Fenway Park” DVD. The boat is currently for sale at YachtWorld.com, with an asking price is $875,000.00.
Groovy” – in January 2007 Jimmy took delivery of a new boat in St Barts. The boat is a Tofinou 9.5 m designed by Michel Joubert.

Jimmy’s Planes

“I got a school boy heart, a novelist eye, Stout sailor’s legs, and a license to fly…” (from the song “School Boy Heart”)Jimmy Buffett received his pilot’s license shortly after his 40th birthday (a goal that he set). The first seaplane that he owned was a Lake Renegade. Below are some of the planes that Jimmy has owned over the years.

Planes that Jimmy previously owned (no longer registered)

In 1988 Jimmy bought his first seaplane “Lady of the Waters”, a Lake Aircraft Renegade.
Jimmy would later purchase a Grumman Widgeon G-44 “(tail number N1471N). On August 25th, 1994 he was involved in an accident with this plane at Madaket Harbor in Nantucket MA forcing him to land abruptly in the harbor shortly after take off – read the accident report.
N208JK” – 1998 Cessna Citation 208 (registered 3/18/1999). This was the first Cessna that Jimmy owned, it originally had the tail number N208JB.
N502JB” – 1982 Dassault-Breguet Falcon 50 (registered 4/13/2000)

Jimmy currently has 4 planes registered as “Strange Bird Inc” based out of Wilmington, Delaware

N928J” – 1954 Grumman HU-16 (registered 11/16/1995, serial number 137928). This plane was made famous by the Buffett song “Jamaica Mistaica” when it was shot at by Jamaican authorities who thought it was being used to smuggle in drugs. The Hemisphere Dancer is on display at the at the Margaritaville Cafe in Orlando, FL (at Universal Studios).
N43320 – 1941 Boeing E75 Stearman (registered 3/19/2002, serial number 75-8413). This plane can be seen in the music video “Trip Around the Sun“.
N208JB” – 1998 Cessna Caravan 208 (registered 12/20/2002, serial number 20800362)
N908JB” – 1992 Dassault-Breguet Mystere Falcon 900 (registered 2/17/2005, serial number 112)
