They may have been 16-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs but the last 3 Super Bowl winners have been teams not named the New England Patriots. They're already living on past glory.SharkOnLand wrote:0 and counting....drunkpirate66 wrote:Wonder how many more games in a row the Patriots will win?

You mean, my team will be the Super Bowl champs this year? Thanks for the backing.Capt.Flock wrote:man sorry ravi but it is going to be a long season for you because of the Super Bowl champs this yearaeroparrot wrote:ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?!
Yep, in about one month, teams shall be reporting in for training camp.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

I thought that was implied. the streak is rather impressive and I would say that no matter who had it.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

The streak is impressive, but as your Patriots so elegantly proved last season--regular season games really don't mean jack.drunkpirate66 wrote:regular season games dink brains . . .LIPH wrote:They may have been 16-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs but the last 3 Super Bowl winners have been teams not named the New England Patriots. You got that right, but as long as he is making the Hunt's money he will be around!

you know I agree with that. if the Pats hadn't won three Super Bowls I wouldn't care . . . but with the those 3 Super Bowls that streak does matter. It solidifies Tom Brady has atleast a tp 3 QB all time (and some could argue THE Best) and the same could be said for their defense. The NFL created a system where teams weren't not supposed to be able to support a dynasty. By taking pay cuts and by some of the greatest trading of all time the Pats since 2001 have done what many felt impossible. that is what I respect. it is the longevity of three super bowl and the fact that they are still competing as one of the top teams (and I have to believe Brady still has one more title in him).
but, yeah . . . they haven't won when it counted for three years now. I agree. No argument. but three superbowls and an unbeaten regular season plus continued playoff births should impress any football fan. And I would bet that they will win the AFC East again. The Pats, ironically have the easiest schedule on paper but they did have statistically the hardest schedule ever the year they lost to the Broncos in the playoffs . . . so I say sobeit.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .
I was a lifelong Baltimore Colts fan with many fond memories of games in Memorial Stadium: Unitas leading yet another 2 minute drill with passes to Raymond Berry, Jimmy Orr, & John Mackey or sweeps by Lenny Moore, fierce goal line stands by the defense led by Mike Curtis, Ted Hendricks, & Bubba Smith.......with chants from the stands of "Kill Bubba, Kill". OK, maybe a bit harsh in today's world, but it was fun to experience back then!
No matter how much I tried I could never bring myself to root for the team after their move to Indianapolis. Nothing against that fine city or their great fans, and I salute their recent successes.
I just continue to find it hard to look at the horsehoe helmets & uniforms knowing that they no longer belong to Baltimore. There were many factors that caused the Colts' move (dwindling fan support & city/state politics regarding stadium funding among others). And critics then point to Baltimore's "stealing" of the Cleveland Browns franchise. Yes, if I was a Browns' fan, you're right, I would have felt the same way. It's a shame how NFL owners can hold a city & its football heritage hostage..... Now, I casually follow the Ravens, but somehow purple & black just doesn't replace the Colt's blue & white. It never will.
One thing about the Browns loss & eventual return, I'm very pleased that the city of Cleveland got to keep its Browns name, its colors, and its traditions.
I only hope when franchises "relocate" in the future that NFL does the right thing and allows the "losing" city to retain its history.

50 TD passes, 50 HRs - all pretty meaningless now, aren't they?drunkpirate66 wrote:LIPH wrote:But for 3 years they couldn't win when it counted.

I understand your attempt at humor but the ironic thing is I agree with you. 50 td's is just stupid and pointless. I mean, it is something to talk about years from now when some kid has 40 td's with 3 games left or something like that but otherwise who cares? Not me. I know plenty of other season ticket holders to the Patriots who do . . . but I have to assume these guys like the arbitrary stats numbers that people seem to jones over. Me? I find them worthless. I am sure fantasy football geeks won some money off Brady and Moss just like when Barry and Mark hit number 70 that did nothing but pad the highlight reels. Yawn. I choose to focus on the 3 Superbowls (2 of them some of the greatest football I have ever seen and likewise to last year's loss to the Giants - WHAT A GAME!) because that is what matters. Nothing else. And this is not the first time I have posted this.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .
