I found out this afternoon that my doctor and his whole office staff are Buffetting tomorrow. What a hoot. Well at least we'll know there is at least one doctor in the house if needed.

Here's the thing about the cops...The venue, and NOT the town pays for them...Great Woods relies on concert-goers to pay for security. Cop detail is paid for by Great Woods (Comcast) and not by the town. That said, in this economy, cops thrive on their income from private duty jobs (like crowd control at Jimmy Buffett...) The cost of these cops is a drop in the bucket when we are talking about a really popular show like Jimmy...It takes about 30 minutes for a venue to rally off-duty cops to work the crowd. The Mansfield police are working in a s*** economy right now and there isn't much OT...but in private duty, off-duty cops make their bread-and-butter. I know this because I am married to a cop, and though the OT for the city is nil, the off-duty jobs are plentiful. A venue the size of Jimmy Buffett can pull in many off-duty cops and they will be there in a heartbeat. That said, I am guessing that despite the fact that some people got warning emails about a late parking lot, we should be ready to file in earlier than that. This parrothead and her cop-hubby and 'keet will be at the venue very early...If nothing else we will be there to support other off-duty cops working private duty, and we hope that the crowd does the same for Op-Sail in New London, CT in a few weeks...
