Ill be the woman to blame... Since this is my first year going to Alpine Jimmy (Live Nation) is making us suffer while we wait for an official announcement. If I had decided to go to Cincy or Chicago or somewhere else you probably would have heard by now.. haha....

I sure hope this isn't shades of 2005 all over again!!

I remember waiting for the Alpine announcement, and it never came.

With the rumor of Jimmy playing Comerica Park in Detroit, I'm wondering if it's 2005 all over again, where Jimmy didn't play Alpine, because he played Wrigley.

A little unnerving that both Alpine and Detroit haven't been announced yet. I sure hope there is no funny business going on!!

Even though it isn't "our God-given right" to know, I still think the considerate thing to do is say "Yes, we're coming, be patient" or "Not this year, make some other plans." Is that really asking too much????

Okay, maybe I'm reading too much into this but does anyone else think that delayed official announcement is tied into the slumping ticket sales at Alpine the last couple of years? Does LN think that if they hold out on giving us an official announcement it might scare people into buying tickets when they are released fearing it may be Jimmy's last Alpine appearance?

If anything, I think just the opposite. People are making their summer plans and filling their calendars. If the show is announced after many people have already made other plans, I think sales will slump even further. I would like to believe that this isn't a carefully orchestrated plot by LN, but I can't remember a time in the last 15+ years that an official date has taken this long to be announced. Its usually late Feb to mid March and if this drags out even a little longer we'll be into May!

Am I crazy?? LN and Ticketbastard have pulled so much crap over the years that I wouldn't put it past them to try some kind of shenanigan such as this. I'd love to hear what y'all think!

its called contracts. Most in the industry state clearly when a show can be announced, for example alot of venues have a clause that another show within 100 miles in many cases cannot be announced until their show occurs, sells out or after a certain time frame so that they dont suffer a loss in ticket sales.

I don't know if this means anything, but my local P.H.C. president called me to tell me she's been allocated a limited number of club tickets for Alpine, and if I want one, she has to have the money by May 15th.

She didn't say she HAS the tickets-she simply said she's been ALLOCATED a certain number of tickets.

Now what's REALLY p*ssing me off is that somebody knows SOMETHING, but won't say anything.

Thanks, but I need a concert and at a seven hour drive away, this is the closest one. I may be screwed this year. I can't afford to fly somewhere for a show and didn't plan vacation time to drive somewhere thinking we'd have Alpine. I sure hope he comes through for us.

Welcome Cheeseheader!!!

Not to stir anything up, but the Sun-Times has had their THIRD Buffett ad in the sports. I have NEVER seen more than one ad. Tickets are still available for Tinley (even in the pavillion!). It may be a combination of venue and economy. I know MANY people are p*** it's at Tinley. We had no choice as Aug 25 does not work for us for Alpine, if that occurs. I'll say my best tiki prayer for y'all.

Ive never been to Tinley but the one concert I went to at Toyota the sound was horrible.. I did however, LOVE LOVE LOVE the tailgating...

I know Indy has not sold out.. Its usually a mad dash to get tickets.. I think the late announcement is what is killing ticket sales... and I think most of the people I know that usually go are tired of fighting with ticketbaster/live nation that they just dont want to deal any more...

UGH.. either way, it will happen.. I will make my first trip north to alpine... how could it not happen - right?
