Chicago 2014

Post by SBParrothead »

Ok, what the hell. I'm gonna throw it right out there.

Please, Jimmy. I beg of you. Please not that shithole Northerly Island again. Please, please, please. I take back everything I ever said about Tinley or Toyota.

Did I say please? :)

I would not be unhappy with a return to Toyota. It was by far the best tailgate in recent years. Would be nice to work out their differences and and book a show early. :D

A return to Toyota would certainly be best, we need more than just a few hours of segregated tailgating. Let's do it right this year.

And would it be too much to ask you announce the tour before April? We know Paris in September already but nothing else....

One last thing: did anybody get an email from LiveNation about getting free replacement tickets for the muddy lawn show @ Northerly Island? I sure didn't read back from them after they promised they'd make amends.

Probably wouldn't get "free" tickets to a Buffett show. Probably would have been able to choose from a cut-out bin of acts that they can't really even sell tickets to.

Free tickets were only for shows last year at Alpine, Tinley or Northerly Island lawn shows that occurred after July 4th. I had to fight with LiveNation to get the code which I used to get Buffett Alpine tickets but all the other shows were pop shows at Tinley or Phish.

Here's hoping for Toyota again but who knows. We'll have to wait for April to come again! With Alpine being phased out a GREAT tailgating spot is a must. Not sure what Alpine is hosting this year with Summerfest stealing all the big acts. If anything the Chicago phlock should head down to Noblesville!

They did. I got 8 tickets to Buffett at Alpine. I ended up giving them away because the hotel situation is so awful there, but I did get them.

Just sayin', I would love to see a mid-winter show. I'm sure the Sears center would bend over backwards for something like that. Heck, I bet you'd get enough of us nuts to even tailgate.

PS-This winter blows!!

Sears Center is way too small. That only holds about 11,000 or so for a concert. Would have to be at the Rosemont Horizon or the Stadium... Opps I mean United Center.

Really curious to see which venue he plays at this year. I skipped Northerly Island, and don't think I would go if he is there this year, so I am definitely hoping for one of the TPs.

Having the cup in town at the same time made travel impossible. Fun to see that many people in one place, but insane.

Hoping he moves away form Northerly this year, but if he is back I will choose my tailgate place more wisely!

I'll skip Northerly Island as well. If he plays there again, I'll be Alpine bound.

We were in Key West last year for the Northerly Island mess, and I'm glad for that. Too bad we couldn't make it to any other shows, and missed him all together last year. :( We'll be in Key West the week after the 4th of July this year, so hopefully we can make it. I'm really hoping for Toyota Park. I seriously doubt we'd go downtown to see him. Either way, a date soon would be nice!!
I wanna be there...

Although I enjoyed Northerly, the lawn was and will continue to be a complete disaster there. We were fortunate enough to sit in pavillion.

My vote is back at Toyota. Tailgate rocked, every seat was great! Only issue (besides the power outage) was when they switched to making half the parking premium. It created a HUGE bottleneck. We ended up driving over curbs to get out of traffic.

Did I mention this winter SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????

We didn't make it Northerly Park but wasn't the whole problem because the turf wasn't set yet and then the RAIN?!?! I have been on the beer deck at Alpine and watched that s*** show when it rains at Alpine. It wasn't pretty. lol

I can only imagine tailgating would s*** at Northerly. Not like the other venues that is for sure!

How about bringing the show down here???

Lots of room and camping!!! They host Summer Camp every year and it seems to work. Ok that will never happen.

Winter sucks, I am ready to shoot the freezer!!!

I'm not really sure what was good about Northerly.

1. Aforementioned lawn quality blew
2. Couldn't hear music in lawn
3. Can't see stage from lawn
4. Tailgating sucks
5. Concession operators disorganized and slow
6. Warm beer

I'd be happy with Tinley or Toyota at this point. Those are veritable paradises compared to Northerly.

There was no bad spot to watch @ Toyota. Tailgating was all day long and was amazing.

Tinley is nowhere near as nice as Toyota. Plus, they cut the tailgating time in half. Plus it blows.

Northerly, in theory, is a great venue for Jimmy - on an island. But the tailgate is divided into a bunch of sections, and it was very short-lived.

Just can't wait until the announcement actually comes (hopefully before April)

Any speculation? I see the mid July dates, and I'm hoping for August in Chicago. Can't wait for the announcement.

Most likely a Saturday. Really hoping for a Tinley Park show.

I am pretty sure a Tinley show isn't going to happen with the option of Northerly open. I would love to revisit Toyota, but again, I am not thinking it will happen. The last couple of years have been in June and it seems to be a wide open slot in his schedule right now. A June show at Northerly would make sense.
