There is a group of eight of us coming from Ohio, and we decided to use Airbnb to rent a townhouse near Wrigley. It was cheaper than staying in a hotel downtown, and will be able to walk to Wrigley.TommyBahama wrote:let me know what you find on HotelsLIPH wrote:I couldn't get anything close so I went with the cheap seats. Right??? I was so disappointed. My kids have bugging me to take them to a show, and I thought this would be a good one. So now I've got to hope and pray that I can wrangle four tickets together without paying through the nose. Fat chance.boatdrinks84 wrote: February 10, 2017 12:08 pm More like "who's not going to Wrigley?"

Yeah, I saw that. I was really hoping for nosebleed seats, actually. If we're down on the field, I'll have to have the kidlet on my shoulders all night (which the people behind me will just love)

I wonder when those clowns plan on mailing the tickets.
Bought mine on line through the original pre-sale, still haven't received it.

Back in mid march I emailed the Cubs and actually asked them about that.
They told me that they planned on mailing out all concert tickets in mid April. We should be recieving them soon hopefully

Thinking about surprising the wife for her Birthday and bringing her to WF.
No clue on what part of town to stay, want something close and easy for the concert.
Pre concert, where do we go? Not my first Buffett rodeo, but my first stay in Chicago and don't want to get mugged or lost or bamboozled.

Re: Who's going to Wrigley July 15 2017?
You should calibrate your expectations for "close and easy" on this one. Wrigleyville will be an absolute zoo with lots of people packed into a relatively small area. I think that's fun, but it may not be what you're expecting when you say "easy."FINSUPinIdaho wrote: April 17, 2017 5:43 pm Thinking about surprising the wife for her Birthday and bringing her to WF.

Where to stay: You essentially have two choices here. You can either stay downtown and ride the L train to Wrigley (what I'm doing), or you can find an airbnb or something similar closer to Wrigley. It depends what your preference is. The L will be crazy packed before and after the concert, just like it is for Cubs games. However, traffic will be awful. I wouldn't recommend taxis or Uber.
Pre-concert: Again, depends what your preference is. If you want a tourist trap, you can hang at Navy Pier or something like that pre-concert. There's a Margaritaville there. Just give yourself plenty of time to get to Wrigley via L. Otherwise, there are tons of bars and restaurants in Wrigleyville within walking distance of WF. Again, just expect plenty of people.
Let me know if you have any other questions. You'll be fine in Chicago. I know there are a few on this board who make it sound like you'll be shot just walking down the street, but it's no different than any other gathering of people in a large city: stay together (especially after dark), guard your valuables, don't do or say anything stupid, and you'll be fine!

Expect a lot and a lot of people in a very small space.FINSUPinIdaho wrote: April 17, 2017 5:43 pm Thinking about surprising the wife for her Birthday and bringing her to WF.

As far as pre-concert goes, I wouldn't venture too far from Wrigley if this is your first time to Chicago. Traffic will be a nightmare and the "L" will be packed especially at that time on a Saturday afternoon if the weather is nice. If you want to stay in a hotel around Wrigley for that weekend, I'd book now.

As far as I know the Cubs are expected to be mailing out the tickets in Mid-April. Given the fact that the concert isn't until July, if we don't have anything by middle May I'll send another email.SBParrothead wrote: April 21, 2017 9:31 amWhat's the deal with this? Plane tickets and concert tickets are bought!
I am a little intimidated about the L and all that. I think we may make a dry run up to Wrigley from our hotel downtown on Friday just to check it out.
