Nighthawk wrote:Heard a RUMOR today....... They are trying to tap Jimmy into playing Lollapalooza. If this does happen, there is a STRICT rule stating that bands playing at the fest, can't do any other performances within 300 miles of Grant Park in Chicago. This is only a RUMOR remember, only can be taken with a grain of salt. Lollapalooza is set for August 3-5th. Last year, a 3 day pass was around $200. Tickets do go fast for this, and others rumored to play are Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, Sonic Youth, Beyonce, and Beck.
This isn't going to happen. Also, the rule was that bands/artists who play Lolla are not allowed to play other shows in Chicago for 2-3 months before/after the fest. I believe it's no longer a rule too.

The lola band list was released online last week by the same guy with connections who released the 100% accurate list last year. Perry was beyond p*** last week so it probably was 99% accurate again.

No Jimmy on it. Sorry to spoil it for you.

I wish that was the truth. Buffett doesn't have the power he once did. One show in a smaller venue, compared to 2 shows over sold out in a bigger venue, not more than 5/6 years ago. 20,000 maybe compared to 90,000. For a one day pass of about $90, you can see 20+ bands. for $150 you can see one band.

Just look at this year.... Jimmy is playing many smaller venues. Smaller Venue with a Veteran artist who used to be able to command more < Not as powerful as once was.

If I remember correctly...didn't Buffett play the same weekend as Lolla a couple of years ago...so I wonder if that may be a possibility again this year...who knows??

August 2006. Jimmy played Tinley on Saturday, Lolla was Friday - Sunday.

He also played in 2009 on Saturday that Lolla was going on. But this year the Fire is playing that weekend at home so if he plays the same weekend as Lolla then he will be somewhere other than Toyota Park. I am still hoping for July 28!

Last year we knew on March 7th . . . That's next week. I can't believe we make it out of march without our dates.

Funny thing is it's impacting my summer plans now. I participate in a golf outing with a bunch of guys every year. Only time I see half of them . . . We have a message board and in shich we connect and discuss our outing plans. As they began talking about dates for this summer the 2nd post was an inquiry to when is Buffett . . . It impacts my availability and the availability of their wives since they come along with me. Mwahahahahaha!

Seems consensus of most all is July 28th. While we have done Toyota the last 3 shows, never have done the VIP parking. How much and what do you get with it? Also, does anybody know how to find "Salty Piece of Land" to download?Heard it the other day for first time in a long time and realized that may be the one song I do not have in my library.

TP has better sound than FMWB and they act like they want you there. Used a motorhome last year that was the way to go. $200.00 and we stayed the night. Made tailgating endless.
Hopfully last years problems will dissapear as mentioned.

July 28th would be great. Some guy had a pool on a trailer that looked refreshing.Warm weather made it interesting (If you know what i mean :o )

Jsut bought two tickets to Cubs games on the 13th and 27th of July, so the 28th would be perfect for me!

I'm thinking if he does Chicago again, it's likely Toyota Park and probably end of July....
That said I can see why he'd be upset about the power outage, but I believe that evening there was a major flood storm.... part of the problem was maybe that ComEd might have been "browning out" to prevent any damage from that. It was VERY hot and muggy that night.

Also, I believe the FMBA has a strict curfew and noise ordinance, plus some of the travel to that venue is rather nuts....

(That said, I'm open to Alpine again this year, but I'd have to take a good look at some of the accomodations, the Cove was nice, but too many amenitites that I ended up not using in the two days I was there...)

Funny . . . i went to my 1st Vegas show to make up for a bad Chicago experience about 5 years ago. Vegas was just awesome . . . went back the next year too. Missed a few since but its on my radar for this year should Jimmy decide to play there instead of Reno or something crazy like he's been doing.
