Jimmy Buffett and Sports Illustrated Guitar

Post by azbuffett »

Well fellow bnr's my wish finally came true and what can I say but wow and the man we all love is truly a great guy and the person we all think and hope that he is. I finally received my guitar in New Orleans on Thursday night thanks to great people at Sports Illustrated, Jimmy's people and of course the lovely and extremely beautiful Brooklyn Decker. I received my guitar from Brooklyn and shortly thereafter Jimmy strolled in like it was no big deal and tuned the guitar and we chit chatted. While the time seemed to fly by, when it was all over I actually got to spend a good half hour with my hero and somebody who I have a ton of respect for. He is what we all think he would be, and while we didn't have a beer, he answered my questions and was sincerely interested in me as well. The Miss Brooklyn Decker was extremely nice and a very classy lady, not hoity toity like you might think some supermodels might be, very nice. Consequently as I was sitting at the Margaritaville enjoying a Landshark Lager the following day and having a burger at the bar, wouldn't you know it but out pops Jimmy and some other friends of his, without hesitation he came over and said hi and talked for a bit and then he toured the restaurant and chatted with the employees and customers. I can't say it enough but this guy is the real deal and we should all be proud that we have a chance to call this guy one of our favorites. That is all for now, although I don't know exactly how to post a picture but I will work on it. Any questions let me know. Take care all!

Yes he is the real thing.

He is as true as any song he has ever sung.

He has no agendas, he is who he is, James William Buffett.

I met him in Aspen and Anguilla.

When I spoke with him in Anguilla, I couldn't believe how down to earth he was.

He is SO friendly and appreciates his fans very much.

HE'S THE BEST!!!!!! You are right...we should be so thankful to be his fans.

I'm still holding out hope that I'll cross paths with the Head Parrot someday. I think there's enough karma in the universe to bring to deserving people what they truly want in their hearts, so I try to have faith that I'll have that chance.

(I'm just sick of waiting for it!) ;)

I think more than anything I'd just want the opportunity to tell Jimmy what an incredibly positive impact he's had on my life and what his work means to me, how it's the soundtrack of both good and bad in my life. I know he's heard it a million times and I know there are others that've said it to him and meant it as much as I do, but there's never been anyone that means it more than I do. I just hope to get the chance to tell him face to face!
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...

You are one lucky Parrothead.
Salt air it ain't thin,
It can stick right to your skin,
And make you feel fine.
It makes you feel fine.

Got the latest issue of the Coconut Telegraph in the mail yesterday. There's a short article about the guitar auction with a quote or 2 from BN's own azbuffett.
