OBX

I have been there many times, but I would like to hear about others that know of any hidden gems in the outer banks. Staying in Kill Devil Hills. Plan on hitting oregon inlet for fishing all week. Any good restaurant ideas?

Have fun! I have been there countless times. Where do you live? I have found that the quality of food there depends on where you come from. Marylanders tend not to be too fond of the seafood I have seen, as they prefer their own.

I'm a real foreigner to the OBX, but we enjoyed Howard's Pub.

http://www.howardspub.com/

Also Sam & Omies.

http://www.sam-n-omies.com/

We also enjoyed The Pilot House at Buxton.

These places are probably the biggest tourist places and NOT "hidden gems" at all, but they were all very good.

www.goodfoodgoodwine.com
Open (B/L/D): Lunch, Dinner.

Had a lot of excellent lunches here:
Tortuga's Lie
(252) 441-7299. MP 11, Beach Road, Nags Head.
www.tortugaslie.com
Open (B/L/D): Lunch, Dinner.
Credit Cards Accepted: All Major Cards.
Caribbean inspired seafood, chicken, beef, pasta, vegetarian dishes, burgers and sandwiches. Smoke-free restaurant. Handicap Accessible.
Open year-round.

Decent Breakfasts (goes to 11 or 11:30):
Miller's Waterfront Restaurant
(252) 441-6151. MP 16, US 158 Bypass, Soundfront, Nags Head.
www.millersrestaurants.com
Open (B/L/D): Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Credit Cards Accepted: All Major Cards.
Seafood, chicken, beef and pasta at family prices. Bar. Children's menu available. Handicap Accessible.
Open March - October.

The Weeping Radish, just off the causeway, Manteo

Goombay's, Beach Road (KDH?)

Getcher tan on at Pea Island (I hear)

Corolla is cool, Hatteras Island is quieter. Duck is surfisticated. Nag's Head is fun.

If you're on Ocracoke there's a place that does 5cent shrimp from three to five. They're great and come in a big basket full of old bay. Alot of locals hit it. You'll see the sign. I think it's the Pelican but i'm not sure. A good coffee shop out towards Hatteras.
Bubba's in Avon and Frisco is stll good for BBQ. My boys spend alot of time at Buxton Munch for sandwiches. Orange Blossom Bakery in Buxton is awesome for breakfast sandwiches on home made biscuits. They also have good donuts but pricey. Friends of ours own FishTales. It's decent basic seafood but good breakfast. Owners are very nice.
We eat out less. We like to hit the local seafood market and liquor store. Then we gril and sit on the deck and watch the ocean. Wonderful way to spend an evening.

i am heading down this saturday and there will definitely be stops at the pit for $1 taco tuesday (and i am sure will be back there several times)

always time for sam and omies and will definitely have a late dinner at hurricane mo's to see the fishing boats coming back into the marina.

also the black pelican is a great dinner spot as is the outer banks brewing station.

quagmires is right and the beach and has a good selection of beers, but sometimes sitting outside the bugs can be tough.

i think one place is called the red drum and it is pretty good to and tortugas lie is one of the most fun places and one of the best meals down there, although the looks ofthe place maybe deceive you.

Basnight's Lone Cedar (on the Manteo Causeway) is a great place for dinner.
http://www.lonecedarcafe.com/

Great lunches at the Kill Devil Grill (on the beach road, MP 9 3/4)
http://www.nagsheadguide.com/killdevilgrill/index.htm

If you plan on eating at your beach house, go to the Seamark and get them to steam up some peel'n'eat shrimp for you. Price per pound is seasonal, but it includes the spices and steaming while you wait. They are at MP 1 and MP 14.

Ok....sorry....so I won't mention the chocolate-peanut butter milkshakes at John's Drive In (MP 4 3/4 on the beach road).

:D
