TV Dinner SUNDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning All!

Today is National TV Dinner day. This is something I never ate until I was on my own and $$ were super tight. The boxes make them look like they came a long way since then :). What are your thoughts/opinions?

TV Dinner Facts
1960 – Swanson added desserts to a new four-compartment tray.
1964 – Night Hawk name originated from the Night Hawk steak houses that operated in Austin, Texas, from 1939 through 1994. The original diners were open all night, catering to the late-night crowd. The restaurants produced the first frozen Night Hawk TV dinner in 1964.
1969 – The first TV breakfasts were marketed. Great Starts Breakfasts and breakfast sandwiches followed later.
1973 – Swanson markets the first Hungry-Man dinners. The meals included larger portions of its regular dinner products.1986 – Microwave-oven safe trays debut on the market.
1986 – The Smithsonian Institute inducted the original Swanson TV Dinner tray into the Museum of American History.
Much has changed since the original TV Dinner. They also remain a popular choice for a fast and convenient meal, fun to eat in front of the TV

Morning Linda, BN

Loved tv dinners for a snack/lite meal... especially Taste O Seas combo..or Howard Johnsons Croquettes..both long gone..
Always had one watching Brady Bunch/Partridge Family on Friday Nights...

Still luv Stouffers Mac and cheese..always in the freezer..

Don't judge me..

Good morning Dave and Linda. I've eaten many Lean Cuisines in my time. How is it TV dinner used to taste pretty good but now they are awful?

Right now a TV dinner sounds good compared to the nursing home food.

Good morning.

The Pelicans took a no-hitter into the 8th inning last night. Columbia's first batter in the 8th struck out but the next guy got a hit. They got another hit in the 9th inning but the Pelicans won 1-0. That's the third time I've been at a Pelicans game when they made it to the 8th inning without giving up a hit but I've still never seen a no-hitter. Columbia's team is the Fireflies, they wore yellow jerseys last night. They didn't glow in the dark but they were very bright yellow, like felt tip highlighter yellow.

Before the game the Pelicans general manager was on the field with about 8 or 9 employees, they were going to give an employee of the year award. The bat boy won. When they announced his name the entire team came out of the dugout to celebrate with him, 2 players put him on their shoulders and carried him back to the dugout.

There was a guy at the game wearing a Pelicans jersey, he must have weighed 300 pounds. Instead of one of the player's names or his own name, it said BIG TASTY on the back of the jersey.

We’re back from church and it’s steamier than when we left. Sooooo humid.

We’re going to the Keswick Theater tonight (about 90 mins away) to see Tommy’s Emmanuel for the 1st time. I’m sure it will be good but always better for a Kevin since he also plays guitar (and banjo and dulcimer and ukulele).

William Thomas Emmanuel AM is an Australian guitarist. Originally a session player in many bands, he has released many award-winning recordings as a solo artist. In June 2010, Emmanuel was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia; in 2011, he was inducted into the Australian Roll of Renown.
