Native son Jimmy Buffett came home Tuesday and opened Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant in Biloxi, the town where his career began.

Buffett reminisced with the crowd of about 4,000 invited guests who danced at the foot of the outdoor stage and watched the hour-long concert from the casino balconies overlooking Back Bay.

Those who didn’t have VIP tickets formed an impromptu Parrothead yacht club near the marina and listened from their kayaks and party boats.

His sister Lulu Buffett and New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis were spotted in the crowd, along with Buffett’s longtime Biloxi friends.

The newest branch in Jimmy Buffett’s ‘Margaritaville’ franchise is open for business. The restaurant and casino on Biloxi’s Back Bay celebrated with a grand opening ceremony Tuesday, led by none other than the king of Margaritaville himself.

“You know what I like to do? Before all the hoopla starts cranking up I like to spend a little time with the people who built it,” Buffett told Local 15 News.
