Coral Reefer singer Nadirah Shakoor posted a heartfelt message on the passing of Jimmy Buffett on social media:
“I’m coming up for oxygen and feeling strong now. Life, as beautiful as it is, ain’t always easy and Jimmy’s transition has been really freakin hard to get through. Knowing that ‘through’ it is the only way, I allowed myself to sit still and listen to my heart. Grief is so powerful and I went deep. I released and I cleansed. I’m thankful that my partner Gil gave me the respect and the space I needed to simply wail. I wasn’t ready. I know I am not alone in this. I’m so grateful for my Mom, my son and my entire family for surrounding me with love. Debbie Grisham thank you for allowing me to call you and just cry cause that was all I had. Sherri Hadsell, thank you for answering my call and crying with me. God speed Jimmy. I don’t know what’s next but whatsomever it is, it’s going to be perfect because the last 28 years are going to be hard to top! Walking in the light of grace, gratitude and endless possibilities!”
I didn’t even work for/with him and I can not stand the hurt I am feeling. I cannot imagine your pain and emptiness. Jimmy was such a powerful, beautiful soul that made life so much more enjoyable through song and story telling. He truly was 1 in a million. Thank you so much for doing your part to make the music so extremely enjoyable. My heart aches all the time.
You were such an important and beautiful voice behind Jimmy and to hear all the respect he showed to you was heartwarming. We mourn with you and you’re right. It’s so friggin hard and I’m not doing well either. Time and watching Jimmys joy will get us all through. I’m so sorry for your loss. God speed Jimmy. Bubbles up.

You played a big part in Jimmy’s past 28 years of making the world a better place, it was a lot of work,but wow what a ride it had to have been,singing for 20,000 + fans and singing with the great Jimmy Buffett.My thoughts and prayers are with you and I too am grieving but unlike you his fans could only get so close and personal. I am sure he’s with his dad and grandpa pirating along on Heavens ocean eating cheeseburgers and having a glass of wine.
What an amazing journey. I am all teared up because even though I never met any of you I am grieving as if I had.
You and the band were all such compliments to each other. I will miss seeing and hearing you all together with Jimmy. I feel blessed that I was able to witness such talent and joy from you all. Take Care. Patti Q
you were the magical beautiful haunting voice behind Jimmy… always beautiful and a delight … i am in total grieving as we all are… i know that his transition is complete and he is with us in spirit the same as my late husband is as well… we held Jimmy and all of the Coral Reefers in our hearts and will keep listening to whatever occurs next… we must take time to cry but let the sun and smiles in again and Bubbles Up to all❤️💔❤️🙏🏼❤️
Nadirah, I always listened for your voice and for your contributions to Jimmy’s performances. I lived for him giving credit to “Miss Nadirah Shakoor!” I share your sadness. Thanks for being there.

Along with many others all I can offer is a virtual hug, a huge thank you for your part in the music I’ve enjoyed hearing, the Youtube videos I’ve been watching this last month. No wonder your tears flowed…that needed to happen. May the happy times and life you shared working with Jimmy help in healing. I’ve been praying for all in Jimmy’s immediate orbit – you , Mac, Peter, Utley, the whole crew. I lost my favorite singer/songwriter. You guys lost so much more. I can’t imagine the depth of loss felt by those that knew him best. Godspeed and grow where you are planted. <3
