Notes:

(a) A video for the song “Bama Breeze” was filmed on July 28th, 2006 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi at the old Fire Dog Saloon. The music video is about Hurricane Ivan’s effects on the Flora-Bama, a beach bar in Gulf Shores, Ala. More information is available in the Sun Herald article “Buffett in the Bay“. The video will be release in September 2006 and the song is considered country.

(b) Wil Kimbrough co-wrote two of the songs on the new album. Information from an article in the Mobile Register “Wil Gets Happy, Wil Gets Angry“.

Wil: Yeah, we recorded back in like January or February, and we wrote some songs for it. Together, this time we actually wrote some together. … I think it’s coming out in October, that’s the last I heard. We wrote some really cool songs for it.

Wil: Yeah, in fact, one of the songs we wrote was called, “Party at the End of the World“. It’s about both things, it’s about the end of the world and it’s about a party. And it’s about Tierra Del Fuego, where he visited. He went and visited down at the bottom of Patagonia, Argentina, it’s considered the end of the world before you get to Antarctica. And so it’s about three things. It’s about a place that’s considered the world’s end, the end of the world, and they’re going to have one last party. We wrote a couple of other really cool songs too. We wrote a song called “Everybody’s On the Phone“.

(c) The album will feature Mark Knopfler, Gomez, Jake Shimabukuro, Bill Payne, and Sonny Landreth. The album was recorded in Key West, Muscle Shoals, and London. (information obtained from an interview will Jimmy Buffett on the Steve Dahl show)

(d) Here is part of an interview with Guy Clark and Richard Skanse about Cinco De Mayo in Memphis.

Where does an idea for a song like “Cinco de Mayo in Memphis” come from? That’s such a unique scenario.

Yeah. Well, it was Cinco de Mayo, and I was sitting here in my writing room with Chuck Mead, who’s the lead singer with BR5-49. And he said, “Man, it’s Cinco de Mayo today.” And I don’t know why, but it just popped out of my mouth: “Cinco de Mayo in Memphis.” It just had this ring to it, you know? And kind of a contradiction. And I just got this picture of these Mexican deckhands coming off a towboat into Memphis on Cinco de Mayo. Just totally imaginary.

I love how the song opens with “Meanwhile …” It just cuts right to the chase!

Yeah! [ Laughs ] Yeah, the song’s funny. Jimmy Buffett’s already done it — he jumped right on that.
